Throwback Thursday: Ladies Night at Chippendales!

Throwback Thursday: As I understand it, we're supposed to dig out an old photo or two and share some nostalgia. Well here goes! Back in the mid 1980's when I was a high school teacher, one of my cronies decided we should have a night out around this time in August before the school year got back in full swing, and we would all be too busy to get together. Someone had heard that the Chippendale Dancers were performing at a bar called Whitehall in Old Orchard Beach, and that we should go. Sounded like a good idea to me.

So, we made our plans, and I left a telephone message dealing with the time and place to meet for one of the teachers who was having a meeting with the principal that day. The school secretary--who was one of the ladies attending--delivered the message to the teacher during the meeting. The secretary and the teacher both starting giggling, and the principal wanted to know what the joke was. When they told him of our plans, he gave them a dollar bill with insturctions, "Give it to Eva, and tell her I said to use it wisely.".

The pictures below, tell the story. . . the middle picture shows me following the principal's instructions--I did what I was told--he was my boss, after all!

There were more pictures in the set, but I don't want to incriminate others. At one point, one of the dancers grabbed my camera, pulled out his G-string, and took a snapshot! I didn't want to post it for fear of startling the faint of heart! I'll just say he had a quite a treasure trove of dollar bills!

The evening consisted of a lot of cheering, much laughter, some imbibing, and a great time was had by all!

Obedience is not always the best policy, I suppose! But you had great fun out there, I guess!

Oh My.

Now I'm sitting here in my apartment. Giggling.

That is all.

I. Am. Speechless.

Honestly. This is such a treat I don't even know what to say.

I'm so sad that there are no more Chippendale's. At least in my city. Oh yes, I've researched.

The moustaches are like the cherry on top of the cheesy naked men.

Haha, good for you! I spent my 25th birthday at some male stripper ladies night affair with my friends. He was sort of a welfare stripper though - about five four and skinny with a porn moustache. He was dressed as a cop. When he pulled his lycra cycling shorts off to reveal a tiny maggot, a rather inebriated me yelled "LOOK, IT'S A LADY!"

I'm normally fairly quiet so you know...alcohol is the great equalizer. Fun night. I see you had some real beef at yours though. :)

Hahaha! I am not even sure what to say.. but I definitely laughed!

Funny, and I don't see any faint of heart here..

How funny!!!!!! I have seen one stripper perform twice and I just kept on giving him the stink eye so he'd stay away from me. However I felt it was necessary to throw him everyone else's way!

Mustaches. It was definitely the '80's.

I don't think you were informed that you're supposed to use your teeth to deliver the cash.

I think that requires a do-over.

Hi! Thanks for stopping by my blog (via SITS)... so glad I came over when I did, this is hilarious!

Jules: I wasn't following him, I was using my dollar the principal had given me...inserting it in the back of his g-string! right over his delicious buns!

S Club: Teachers are people, too! lol

Brown eyed Girl: Too late for a do over! but I'll tell ya....a couple of those guys looked definitely doable!

Chasing Blue: I went back to a ladies night; about 8 years ago... the strippers were not attractive and I thought they were crude. The chippendales of 25 years ago were performers: the actually were excellent dancers, were perfect gentlemen--other than stripping down to g-strings--and all loved women. They seemed to be having a great time, and they treated all the women in the audience as though they were beautiful--it didn't matter age, size, or looks.

Vodka: faintness of heart has never been one of my strong points!

Kati: Glad I made you laugh! It's the best medicine!

V A: These guys were all class. They did at least a 15-minute dance number as a group, all fully clothed in Tuxedos; then they returned individually in costumes and performed, then they performed again in their g-strings as a group, but they REALLY danced. They had great routines, not gross or overly suggestive.. It was really an entertaining show. (and it didn't hurt that they were all pretty good looking and had great physiques.)

Jeanette: glad you enjoyed it!

Senora M: He definitely had a sense of humor--else he probably would have canned me on many an occasion!! lol

Steam Me Up: I'm sorry you don't have any chippendales in your area, but as I said to V A, these guys were exceptional.

Single Girl: glad you got the giggles!

La Belle Mere: That wasn't oil, it was salty, sweet, perspiration...and it wasn't just my dress that got wet! ahem

Ekan: trust me...obedience is usually a part of my personality...just ask my husband!

Steven: I always obey the boss --if it fits into my plans.

Deb: You are so very welcome!

This was a post that I felt required response to the comments!

Oh my gosh, what a night! I've never been to anything like that. I got married at 19, so missed a lot of that crazy fun, lol.

Ginny: It's not too late! I was 40 and married when this girls' night out took place!

Kate: Hope you come back often; I'm usually good for a giggle.

Mustaches and 'fros - very 80's! Sounds like you had a fun night!!

Oh gosh, I remember the Chippendales. Did you know that even in the boycott apartheid years, they came out to South Africa and performed here. I remember slipping out to see them.
