If this is Monday, we must be on the Third Floor.

Ah, the joys of hotel living....... One of the problems with a long trip like I just finished, is that after a while, the days all tend to blend together, and you're no longer sure where you are. I knew it was getting to be time for us to come home when one morning at our hotel, we left our room and boarded the elevator to take advantage of the "free" continental breakfast. The doors closed, the elevator moved, then the doors opened. A couple stood there in the hallway waiting to board. Hubby started to exit, when I grabbed his arm, pointed to the light above the door and said, "This is the second floor. We want the first floor." The couple joined us in the elevator, the doors closed, again the contraption moved, and again the doors opened. This time we were definitely on the first floor, so we exited and went to the breakfast area.
We had breakfast, and Hubby decided to have a second cup of coffee. I said, "You go ahead and enjoy your coffee, I'll go back to our room and finish packing up our stuff." I went back to the elevator, pressed the number 3, and that wonderful gadget whipped me right up to the 3rd floor in no time. I walked down the hall to my room, and inserted the key: No green light, no click, the door wouldn't open. I reinserted my key and tried again, at least four times. Then I pulled out the envelope my key came in; it listed my room number as 119. The door I was working so hard to open was 319! I went back to the elevator and returned to the first floor, just in time to intercept Hubby about to go back to the third floor.

I grabbed his arm and said, "Come with me."

"Where are we going?" he asked.

I steered him down the hall to room 119, inserted my key and the door opened. It was then that we realized we had left our first floor room which was practically around the corner from the continental breakfast area and taken the elevator. Obviously, the couple we had encountered on the second floor had pressed the elevator button for it to come up to them, and we two "traveling drunks" thought we had come down from the 3rd floor instead of up from the second. That couple probably were fully aware that the elevator had just come up from the first floor and thought we were a couple of looney toons riding the elevator up and down for the sheer thrill of it all! We had a good laugh and realized that either Alzheimers was setting in, or we had been on the road WAY too long!

This post is hysterical:) Don't feel bad cause that's sounds like me everyday! The trip I took was through my friend Askwifey. Someone called her and she asked me to audition with her and her sister. Who knew we would get the job! I still look at the photo's and can't believe I went to Europe:) I can't wait to someday go back!
