Winter in Maine

I know this isn't the coldest day we will have this winter, but it is the first really cold one of the season.  The wind chill factor is expected to be below zero at times.   I can hear the wind howling out there and see the tree branches being battered by it, and I'm glad I'm inside.  Last year at this time, I would have been out driving and calling on customers.  Suffice it to say, I'm glad I'm retired!

Now I shall make you jealous - Yesterday, the sun shone from a blue sky all day, and our top temperature in Hevant was 11'C. But it was shortlived, today it's only 7'C, and liable to hit 4'C tonight, so your jealousy should be shortlived too!

I can't say we've gotten that cold yet, but I'm sure we'll see it at least once or twice before the winters over.

I enjoy the landscape in the winter, truly, it's magical. But, do not like the cold!

Keep warm!!

Hi Eva! Thanks for stopping by and commenting on Rook No. 17. So pleased to make your aquaintance! Snow, huh? Jack Frost never quite makes it out to these parts. It's pretty much Fall year-round here on the Central California Coast. Hope you're staying warm, enjoying some hot cocoa, a nice fire on the hearth, and a good book! Warmest wishes, Jenn

We are probably around 40 today which is too cold for me. Last year was rough. Virginia felt like Maine, hopefully this year is not so bad.

Yes, I'm already over winter. Friday's I'm at home gloating about being warm and giving the finger to the minus 25 it is outside. Yet every time I know I'm in no position to go outside, like not having the car today, I immediately think of four hundred things I "need" immediately. Grrrrrrr. At least winters here are generally sunny and blue skied even if they are practically Arctic cold.

Cold down here in MA, too. But, as you say, it will get colder, so we might as well enjoy this!

Ha! That cartoon says it all.

It's like a deep freeze here in Nebraska too.

It's about 20 for us right now. I don't know what the wind chill is, but it's probably not near zero. Right now we have some light snow and it actually feels warmer than 20.

It's unseasonally cold here too. Nothing we're used to. Hope we can talk about other stuff soon.

Carol: I'm with you on that one!

Jen: Yes, thank goodness there was sun!

Steven: Hope the pics were worth the frozen buns!

Jinksy: Did you really have to rub it in???

Vodka: I get accustomed to it as the winter wears on, but the first really cold days are a shock!

Jules: glad you like the cartoon!

Hillbully: Doing my best to keep warm!

Jenn: Central California coast? Monterray, San Francisco? Beautiful areas--visited there in October.

Strait: Hope you have a milder winter this year.

Veg: Does giving the weather the finger help? 'cause I'm willing to give it a try!

Suldog: Thanks for signing my guestbook! Love the picture!!

SingedWing: Are you saying Jack Frost has been biting your nipples? You little minx, you!

Kat: Somehow I think Nebraska gets colder than Maine! Stay warm!

MaryAnne: Glad it feels warmer than 20 there...darn chilly here!

Kristina: Ditto!

Lake: YEAH! Things like sunshine and the beach!

Yes, when you don't have to go out in it anymore, it's all different, isn't it! I'm glad for you!

If only a little bit of mine would fall off.... I could enjoy all the yummy Christmas stuff without stress.

It's cold enough for some to fall off! Stay warm!

Seriously, I laughed my ass off!

Would someone explain to me why THAT is only an expression and not physically possible?

Eva, you are scaring me. This is our last day in Florida and we fly back to Michigan on Sunday. I hear it is below zero windchills and that we have over 18 inches of snow. It will be like leaving another planet and going and landing on Siberia!
