Have I Been Scammed?

I don't know if you've noticed, but I removed all advertising from my blog.  Why?  Because one day Adsense said I had accumulated $59.60 in earnings, and then it disappeared.  I've emailed the help desk to find out what happened to it, and no one has responded.  And of course, there's no number to call to speak to anyone.  I'm really ticked off.

It's not bad enought that they make you wait until you've earned $100 before they will pay it to you;  Now I got over half way there and it's gone!  I'm hoping that maybe they put a check in the mail to me, and I just haven't received it yet, but I'm doubtful!  If only I could get a response to my questions.  I'm totally frustrated by the situation!  Thank you to those of you who have clicked on the ads over the last 8 months.  It looks like it was for naught!  If I get a check or a satisfactory response, I'll consider putting ads back on; in the meantime, I'm refusing to participate if this is some kind of scam.

Are you getting the impression that I'm not impressed with Adsense Customer Service?  Good.  I'v done my job here.  I didn't start blogging to make money, but a few bucks here and there would have been frosting on the cake. So I guess I'm eating cake sans frosting for a while--maybe permanently.

That bites about Adsense. I thought about it for a while and I do have the ads on my blog but ya know i figure the miniscule percentage they offer would take forever to make any money.. so I just did it and not for money lol

Sounds typical from what I have heard. People get to $100 and for some reason they wont pay them.

Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

Sorry to hear about Adsense.... I've never gotten a penny from them. I don't know anyone who has!

My name is PJ. said...

The frosting is usually the best part!

I had wondered about how that would work out. I had looked into adding ads to my blog a while back but decided it probably wasn't worth the hassle. Now I see that I was correct in my thinking. Hope you do get a check soon. Good Luck SITSta :o)

Makes me want to pull the adsense stuff on my blog! Hope you get it all worked out... to your benefit.

Yes, this does sound like a scam, all right. What a ripoff! Thanks for keeping us posted on what to avoid. I wondered about the ads and if it was paying off. You put me straight.

Oh, I'm going to check my adsense account right now. You have done your job - perhaps even started a revolution!

Hi! I sure hope you get this figured out!!

Thanks for visiting my blog! Your comment made me laugh out loud! I'd love to see movies made of the Stephanie Plum series - I laugh myself silly just reading those... and I don't know who is my favorite character? Stephanie? Grandma Mazur? Lula? Albert Kloughn? So funny!!

Have you listened to them as audio books? I strongly recommend it - after a few of those, you'll hear the voices and accents even when you read the books!

Thanks for the visit!! :) Silke

Wow, that totally sucks.

Well that certainly sucks. I'm not impressed with their customer service either.

Hi Eva,

Thanks ever so for stopping by ddna this a.m...
And good for you--taking the ads off.

Steven: I agree!

Singed: I wasn't expecting big bucks. But a few here and there would have been nice!

VodkaLogic: Terrific. I never would have bothered to put ads on in the first place, if I'd known.

Middle: Lots have people have commented on this post, and no one claims to have ever been paid.

PJ: Coconut pecan frosting on German Chocolate cake!

Cassie: I write for Associated Content and do get paid there. I thought I would here, too. Although I blog more cause I enjoy it than anything else.

Gaston: I'll keep everyone posted. If I get a response or a check, I'll announce it on my blog!

DJan: If anything changes, I'll let you know.

GooodCook: I've never thought of myself as revolutionary....revolting, maybe.

Silk: Thanks for stopping by. No, I haven't listened to the audio books. But she writes so well, I hear the accents anyway!lol

Kristina: That it does!

Meeko: What customer service?

Herself: Thanks for returning the visit.

Hope it all works out, I always wondered if you could actually make a few pennies with a blog. Oh well....

They suck. I used to have them and then they suspended my account and they won't give a reason. I think it's just that they don't want to pay.

I wasn't going to put ads on my blog after that, but then I got recruited by another company and they are so much nicer and totally respond to any questions quickly.

Oh man, I'd be furious! I'd write the Better Business Bureau, the Attorney General of your state, the Consumer Protection Agency, Google Alert, and Jon Stewart. The last one is because I get my news from JS.

BTW, you are my number one fan! I Love you for it! I'd want to add an add on your blog anyday!

same thing happened to me. but I didn't care but it does suck.

Elenka said...

That's a bummer. I often wondered how that worked. Also a bummer that there is no contact person.

Tgoette said...

I noticed the same thing, Eva. I read that there is some glitch they are working on, but it's been going on for so long it's hard to believe. The earnings for my little blog is so tiny I'm not worried about it, but I agree that it sure looks suspicious.

I hate when things like that happen!!

There is NOTHING WORSE than poor customer service - I'm angry for you! Take a deep breath - Adsense doesn't know a good writer when they see one. Their loss!

TechnoBabe said...

My hubby has been checking into AdSense for his CD and he said he has seen lots of settings. Maybe one of them is to apply earnings to more ads.

Fragrant Liar said...

Oh REEEEEEAAAAALLLYY. I am glad you posted this. If they don't come through for you, post again loudly, and I'll post too. If they're ripping people off and we all let the world know about it, they'll have effectively screwed themselves.

I've heard of this happening to people far too often Eva. I refuse to use them. There's something not right about it.

Eva Gallant said...

Matteny: I haven't collected any of the supposed $59.85 I earned.

Mami: You're right; it does!

Rosaria: I may just do that. And I love your blog..of course I'm your number one fan!

Queen: It's interesting that this seems to have happened to many bloggers.

Elenka: The WORST is not having a way to contact anyone.

Tgoette: I'm wondering if I'll hear from anyone.

Gayle: Me, too.

Tam: That's sweet, Tam. Thanks.

Techno: I've checked all the settings I can; no luck so far.

Fragrant: We'll see if I get a response.

Cinnamon: I agree!

I have never heard of anyone thats actually received a check from AdSense. Even Vodka Mom did a post about it a while ago. It stinks that you can't get a response. I hope it works out.

Nooooo....cake w/out frosting is like Bonnie w/out Clyde, Butch w/out the kid, Lucy w/out Ethel...ah, you get it. LOL.

Sounds suspicious to me and I support your revolt! The little guy won't stand for bullying.

The Lucy and Dick Show said...

Hmmm... And I kept thinking it was because I just didn't have good content that I wasn't getting many pennies a day?
I've been going to post a survey to see if others are earning those thousands a day that they advertise, but also thought that Blogger would likely shut me down if I did and I have way too much fun with my blog to stop. I'm going over to Unknown Miami because she said she was recruited by another company and is doing better.
Also Bungalow recently launched her own www. address and is getting along ok with that. She is so generous in posting helpful hints and suggestions.
Regardless, your blog is always so funny and makes me laugh and so I'll continue to read and watch.
I will continue to click if you re-post ads. Apparently, once we get really popular, there's also a chance we will be 'sponsored,' although I'm not sure what that really means.
What I do know and has been proven throughout history, is that closed mouths don't effect change and so I will open mine too.
We shall see my friend!

Ugh. I don't get Adsense at all. Right now I'm at six bucks but now I can't even get the ads to show up.

I had ads on my blog for a while, but decided to forget it. It stinks that you got taken..... I hope you can resolve this matter.

Ouch. Hope you get it sorted out. I was wary of adsense for my blog as it is but really put off them now! I hope you can get it sorted out and find a more responsive and reliable company to work with.
