Homes of the Rich and Famous

Do you remember how yesterday I said I was in a blue funk? Well, when I opened my email, a couple of my dear friends from high school who read my blog faithfully sent me this:

Needless to say, that and all the encouraging comments from the rest of my bloggy friends went a long way towards prodding me out of the blues!

Just wanted to get that in, before I get to today's post. Thanks to all of you--especially Jerry and Janice down there in Florida where it's nice and warm!

If you've ever wondered how the other half lives, you'll enjoy this peek at the palaces of the privileged. Try not to drool over their dwellings. I know I found it difficult.

First on display is the jewel Billy Joel calls home:

Doesn't look too tough to take!

Then there's the mansion maintained by Eddie Murphy:

I wouldn't want to be responsible for keeping that place pristine; I hope they have a cleaning lady!

Moving on, Halle Barry's abode is as beautiful as she is:

There's nothing like a little bungalow one the beach; and the view from the balcony is breath-taking I'm sure!

How about Hugh Hefner's house?

Quite the playpen for all those pretty playmates! I hope it's handicapped accesible; he's getting old!

J-Lo's joint is a jaunty little lovenest with plenty of space for those twins:

Hide and seek in those digs could present a challenge, I'll bet!

Oprah Winfrey's home seems huge for a single person:

She must have staff and friends living with her. I'd find that place awfully lonely by myself!

Sylvester Stallone has a sprawling estate.

Secluded in among trees, it must afford privacy!

John Travolta has quite a cabin:

A licensed pilot and flying enthusiast, he has 2 planes of his own, and his own runway!

Tiger Woods?

I suspect his trappings have taken a turn toward the worse!

Well, I knew I'd find one that looked like mine; move over, Tiger, I'm home!

I'm not a bigger is better girl. I'm all about function. So whatever works for others is fine by me.

The real knack is making rooms in places that large feel cozy, welcoming, as if you could sit down and put your feet up....

I'm glad you're feeling better, Eva!

That's rich. In more ways than one. And Tiger? When will he show his face again? I'm happy to say I don't need or want a big huge home like those. Think of the dusting!

I hate rich people. How can I be one?

I'm glad you showed Tiger's NEW home and not the one that he'd been staying in for the past few years.

Well, let me tell you, I once lived in an enormous, sprawling, huge mansion. In the gorgeous Highlands of Kenya, East Africa. Endless rooms, huge fire places, many bathrooms.

It was a magnificent old colonial settler's house gone to the rats, and located in a mud hut village.

No running water (anymore), no electricity (anymore). I cooked on an antique woodburning stove, holding an umbrella over my head if it rained because the roof leaked.

And why was I living there? Cause I was in luv.

With an America Peace Corps volunteer.

Ah,those were the good days, in the mansion!

I'm trying to work out whether I prefer Halle Berry's or Billy Joel's house. Hmmm, it's a tough call!

This whole post was great - from the Friggin Fairie to Tiger's dog house! Did not see the dog house coming! Right up till I got to the dog house I couldn't quit thinking - what do these people do with all these rooms. Fun stuff! Thanks for the smile.

Ethel: You'd better watch out if you're sharing space with Tiger; I hear he's a real hounddog!

PJ: There's nothing cozy about any of those--except maybe Tiger's!

Mommakin: Gotcha! lol

Gayle: I'm with you! One would need a bevy of maids in any of those places.

DJan: Me either! I'd get lost!

Kristina: If you figure it out, let me know!

Sandy: It's sad, when you think about it. Top of the world, and then----down!

Foot: Sounds like one mansion I could do without! But at least you have vivid memories.

Richard: Halle Barry's looks smaller and more manageable. love the beach.

Susan: Glad I could make you smile!!

I can't see the fuss with Tiger. He is just like the rest of the celebrities. They have their own heaven and hell.

Glad to hear you're feeling better. I just knew there had to be a punch line at the end of this little slide show of homes! You kill me!

Oh, wow, you and I have been in the same funk! I'm crawling out! Come on Spring! I'll take Halle Berry's joint. It looks like it'd be sunny all year round!

I've been bashed by the blues myself lately, so I apologize for not being around to send cheery thoughts to you. Or commiserate. But glad you reached out and got well-wishes from other more observant bloggy pals. And re: Halle Berry's home, which I also liked best -- it does look dangerously close to toppling from beach erosion.

I'm so glad happiness don't comes from money or big houses!
