My Biggest Loser

Since Hubby has developed a propensity to retain fluids, the cardiologist has told him that he must cut way back on his sodium intake, and weigh himself daily.  If he experiences more than a 3 pound weight gain, he is to call the doctor immediately!  He has lost nearly 40 pounds over the last 3 weeks.  No, he's not a contestant on the Biggest Loser, and he hasn't had Jillian or Bob beating his butt!  He was prescribed diuretics, and has been dropping the excess fluid.

That being said, he decided we needed a new scale.  We had one that we couldn't read the numbers on without squinting.  We were given a new one by the doctor's office which has a circular face which is raised  about 5 inches from the base of the scale with large numbers which is easier to read, but you can step on it five different times in a five minute period and get five different readings!  Hubby went online to Amazon.com where we regularly make purchases and browsed around looking for a scale.  He found us a beauty!  It came the other day, and I have to admit, I'm impressed.

My Weigh Elite Series Bathroom Body Weight Scale - 400 lb

Voila!  The My Weigh Elite Series Body Weight Scale.  It is digital, which means it gives you pounds and ounces!  No more trying to figure out if the reading is for 120 and one/half pounds, or 120 and three/quarter pounds.  (Of course you know, this is my weight I'm using, strictly for reference purposes!)  Also, it's less than 2 inches thick very light-weight, and was priced at just $33.38!  What a deal.  I love it---well as much as you can love an appliance that delivers bad news on a regular basis!

So now, a new morning ritual:  step on the scale.  Makes you think twice about downing that whole pepperoni pizza at dinner! (I'm not sure how this will affect my chocolate consumption; somethings are a necessity.  I'm just sayin'.)

I have not been compensated for sharing this product information with you, but if you are looking for a new scale and want one that's realiable, compact, easy to read, registers up to 400 lbs., and you go to Amazon to purchase it, I will get a a small rebate.

That's a nice scale!!! We have a digital one from ages ago, which works really well but it's not nearly as thin as your scale is.

40 pounds in 3 weeks??!! Holy cow!!

I hear someone loses 40lbs the first thing I think is "woohoo! Excuse to buy all new clothes"!

WoW, 40 pounds in 3 weeks? My daughter (20) had a fainting episode in January. The doctor told her to eat more salt. She hates salty food. We bought Gatorade, chips,etc..Funny how life is, when you are told to eat a particular type of food for your health it suddenly stops having appeal. To encourage her I ate the same food. I was so bloated it was ridiculous. I had to stop. My rings did not fit, my shoes did not fit. Well you get the picture.

Too bad I cant give him a blogging award. This is the best I can do: Clap, clap, clap, way to go hubby!

Hate it when the heart can not get all the fluid off.

I broke my scale--it kept giving me the wrong number. I need to find a new one so I'll check out your recommendation. Meanwhile, I figure if I can get into my clothes, I won't worry.

I don't like to get on scales either, but every time I go to the doctor's office they insist on it. And it's usually not as bad as I feared. The way my clothes fit tells me all I need to know. Good job on getting all that excess water off!

I have a Tanita scale that I like. Of course, lately I "like" letting it sit in the corner. The fit of my jeans, this morning, suggest I need to get on it a little more often.

So happy for your hubby!! (on his weight loss).
I forgot to mention on my last comments that those frozen meals are good that are Lean Cuisines and especially Healthy choice because many of the HC's are low in salt...check out the labels...you may find ones you can microwave for lunch and neither of you will have to cook!

I wish you both good luck in weight loss and measures to improve your health!

My scale is ridiculous. It makes me weigh differently every time. Sometimes I weigh more naked than with clothes and shoes on. Come on!

Oh my dear, you are such an inspiration - you go girl!! I'm always like healthy is happy. Since my mother's passing from heart failure I'm dedicated to stay healthy.
BTW I love the biggest looser - HUGE fan.
Stopping by from SITS. Happy Thrus!

Wow! So sleek and pretty! I LIKE it!! I have a digital scale, too.

And I like that I can say, "HEY! I lost .025 pounds!!" I weigh myself every morning, too. It really DOES make me think about what I'm putting in my mouth the night before!!

Wow! I hope he levels out soon? The scale is awesome. You know... it's the stainless looks that attracts me!

Talk about a love/hate relationship....the scale, not your hubby. If you have to have a scale it is fun to have such a cool one, but I'm with you on it not being one of my favorite appliances.

Hi Eva, I was leaving a comment on another blog (Second Wind) and noticed you had also commented and recognized your picture from another completely unrelated blog I read (Matthew's Abode One Three), on which you also often comment. Anyway, makes me think how small the blogging world can often be!

Cheers!

MochaDad: Now see, I couldn't handle playing games on my phone! I'd never stop playing! lol

Steven: So true, Steven, so true!

Canadian: As one who stayed off the scale for years, and am now paying for it--don't let things get out of hand. It's too tough to get back on track if you wait to long like I did!

We recently bought a new slimline digital scale too. Love it, yes, as much as you can love a scale!

Congrats to your husband and his weight loss!

Congratulations to your hubby on losing 40 pounds! That's incredible for that time span too.

I'm convinced my scale lies. I am sure of it!

That's a lot of weight! He must be feeling great. I am in dire need of a new scale - mine is about 30 years old and it tells me something different every time. I usually step on it three times in a row and then average it out!

Hi Eva, thanks for visiting my site yesterday and signing up to follow. However, the site you signed up on is not an active site (it's a test site!) so you won't ever get any posts. My actual site, Wanderlust, is http://kbxmas.blogspot.com if you'd like to follow there. Thanks!

Happy SITS Saturday Sharefest Eva!

Hi Eva!
I saw your name on the SITS comment list this morning and remembered I hadn't stopped by in awhile. I'm glad your husband's meds are doing the trick!
I don't like scales very much, as I get tempted to obsess about the numbers...
