Throwback Thursday 1988 or 1989

You may recall a couple of Sundays ago, I did a post about Fun Town/Splash Town here in Saco. If you missed that post, click on the highlighted link to visit.  Back when I was teaching, we took the graduating seniors there for a class trip for a day.  One of the attractions is the Log Flume Ride.  Three of my students convinced me to ride on it with them.  I had never been on it before.

Here I am, the second from your right, totally unsuspecting what is about to happen.  As we came tearing down the slide at what felt like 100 mph, the student in front of me ducked.  I was drowned by the splashing water.  Everyone thought that was a great trick to pull on the teacher! Of course, I laughed, too, in  between wringing out my clothes and spitting out water!

Yes, you are a good sport, Eva. You still are, it seems. Laughing at yourself (and the rest of us too) is one way to make a whole lot of friends and followers. You're the best!

I love the log flume ride! When I was a kid, it was my favorite. They didn't have it when I was younger, but now at Funtown they installed water guns on the bridge so you can spray people in the boat as they go by, I didn't like that very much!
Thanks for visiting my blog, how funny that we both are from Maine!

Mary(Writing): Funtown doesn't open for a few more weeks, but I know what you mean. Amusement parks are fun!

Tornado: Where in Maine are you?

ModernMom: Welcome! I think you are my first visitor from LOL!

Kids only do stuff like this when they really, really like their teacher and know she's a great sport! You must have felt really, really loved!!!

You were the kind of teacher I would have given my eye teeth for! My teachers usually just ignored me!

Best you made favorite teacher in the yearbook that year. If my teachers had been a little more fun I might have done better in school. Of course, nuns are not known for their rollicking sense of humor. ;)

You are a really good sport. too bad the kid who ducked spent the rest of the school year in detention ;-)

Hope all is well with you. I'm off to catch up on your older posts.

Most people love the log flume, but I find it to be bone shakingly terrifying!
