Celebrating Sis's Birthday

I mentioned last Friday that my sister's family had a special surprise planned for her birthday gift.  It was planned for Tuesday, May 5th.  Jeannine lives almost 2 hours away, so I drove to her house the night before and slept over.  In the morning, we were to be at the Community Center for 9:00 a.m. Here's what went down:

A Hummer Limosine, no less...

A total of 17 people boarded the limo which could have held 25, so it was a very roomy and comfortable ride.

We chatted and giggled along the way.

Then we arrived at our destination:

A Casino with over 1000 slot machines!

The theme of the place is Hollywood...the old Hollywood.  So there were photos of the wonderful, glamorous stars of the silver screen of yester-year.  (Sorry my flash was reflected in this one of Jane Russell)

There were photos of Gary Cooper and Barbara Stanwick (above) and Rita Hayworth and Humphrey Bogart, and many more!

It was in the morning on a weekday, so there were no waiting lines!

Those one-armed bandits were just waiting for our money!  And we didn't disappoint them!

There was a huge buffet lunch included; I forgot to take photos, so I got this one off the Hollywood Slots website.

And after a wonderful lunch, more slots!

Then the ride home....Sis was $4.00 richer, I was $25.00 poorer, but we had a fun time.  Thank you so much to her kids for funding this trip for their mother and me, her (un)lucky guest!

What a fun day for you and your sister. The "luck" was in that you two got to spend some time together, that's hitting the jackpot!

Okay, I want to be your sister and have a party like that!!! What fun. However I probably would have lost the $4.

We have lots of casinos around here with all the Native American reservations. I'm not a fan of them any more, since years ago I worked in Lake Tahoe and watched little old ladies give the One-Eyed Bandit all their Social Security money. But it looks like you and your sister had a great time, and the lunch buffet looked awesome!

This is the kind of birthday I can get behind. My problem is that I can't stay away from the ATM and always lose way more than 25 bucks!

Cbellabell: Oooh, I stay right away from the ATM. I'm very disciplined. I decide in advance how much money I'm willing to spend.

Sanjeet: The buffet was fabulous! I wish I had taken close up pictures. And we did have a great time.

Kablooey: Yeah, the wackiness tends to run in the family. I'm afraid we're all too old to be approved for adoption! lol

You guys know how to celebrate. You figure all that fun only cost you $25. I'd say that was a good deal.
