Sundays in My Neck of the Woods

Sometimes, no matter what day of the week it is, you just have a hankering for a burger.  Well, have I got a burger for you!  Here in New England is a  small chain of Burger Joints called Wild Willy's.

We visited the South Portland, Maine, location, which is housed in a Western style log cabin.

While a player piano provided some background melodies, we browsed the menu.

In addition to a number of different burger choices, there were steak sandwiches, chicken sandwiches, salads, and chili.

There were bison burgers, for those looking for a leaner burger.

There were also gluten free choices...which come in a gluten free bun!  And even a gluten free Lager, which were new additions since our last visit, and a big hit with the clientele, the manager assured us.

We placed our order at the counter and slipped into one of the booths to await our food.

Before too long, our dinner was on our table:

Hubby had chosen the Willy Burger...with cheese, tomato, lettuce, and Mayo.

I'm a sucker for the Bubba BBQ Burger, which has bacon, cheese, onion, pickle and BBQ sauce!  I confess it's the only sandwich I've ever had there in our many visits, because it's just SOOOO good!

We shared a side of onion rings which were coated with a tasty crumb crust and were not the least bit greasy!

And the fresh cut fries were pretty good, too, although I like mine just a little more crispy/  Despite that, nothing went to waste; correction, it probably all went to  my waist, but was totally worth it!

Wild Willy's has two locations in Maine, one in New Hampshire, and three in Massachusetts.  To find the one nearest to you, and to check out their full menu at their website by clicking here

Note:  I received no compensation for this review, unless you count a delicious meal for my money!

I just gained five pounds.

Seriously, it all looks so fantastic! I LOOOOOOOVE onion rings, but I so hate it when you get as much grease as onion. Those look delish!

Hope you're feeling completely better now. Surely that burger helped!

Sometimes you just need a good burger and onion rings! YUM.

We have In and Out Burger here and they are great. I'm trying to figure out how to get their food trucks to swing by my house once a week.

Happy SMIC and have a great weekend,
jj

Burgers are the best and my all time favorite food. In college there was The Red Garter that served great burgers so we ate there once a week if they weren't in the middle of a kitchen grease fire which was often.

Oh my! That is the BIGGEST burger I've ever seen, Eva! It must look really good unless you're a vegetarian (which might explain why I couldn't imagine eating it). But the pictures are AWESOME. And oh, BTW, welcome back! How's your back?

Just a year ago I could have eaten all on that menu. Recently, I must have been sinning so, I have to curtail both the size and the types of food I eat. Bummer! These burgers look divine.

Now, do show us those famous Maine's lobster rolls we hear about.

My mouth is watering!!! Those burgers look delish! My son isn't on gluten free, but I know a lot of spectrum moms that would totally appreciate that part of the menu, how awesome they provide that!

We just rode by this place yesterday on our way to spend a million bucks at Broadway Gardens.
I noticed they had gluten free stuff, whatever that is.
I've never been there, but you have tempted me!
