WTF Friday!

The following is a special exhibit at an Art Museum in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

This is Austrailian Artist Lucy McRae

She is what is called a 'body artist."

She glued saftey pins to her body to build this structure that "reshapes the human silhouette."
At least she didn't actually puncture her skin and pin them all over herself!
Here, she changes from safety pins to thumb tacks.
Perhaps her intent is to look really sharp?

I'm sorry, I guess I'm a total cretin when it comes to art; I just don't get this.  Professor Chenowith never covered this in Art Apreciation 101 when I was in college.  (Of course, that was back in the Dark Ages, so maybe that course pre dated this art form.)  On the other hand, if she's making money from this.........Maybe I'll buy some super glue and a few dozen boxes of tampons and re-create myself as Tassel Tina!

I can well understand why the model isn't smiling. I wonder how she worded this on her resume?

Now I don't know whether to keep slathering moisturizers on my face or just glue safety pins to my wrinkles.

You know how art is suppose to "speak" to you? Well, these certainly do. Look at her expression in the first photo - it says to me "Well, I THOUGHT this was a good idea at the time."
And the thumbtacks? "STAY AWAY FROM ME!!!"

Honestly, she looks like a human porcupine. Wonder how she sits or eats or...?

Eva, your Tassel Tina look can't be any worse than these!

At first I thought she stuck those in her skin! Eek! I just don't get some types of art.

She does have a certain piercing gaze to her.....

She must have bought those safety pins and tacks at Sam's Club. You know how they have HUGE boxes of things and you wonder how you'll ever use the stuff up? THIS is how!

Ya got me wondering about those tampons now. Hmmmm.....

A tampon suit and a pool of beet juice. Make them quirm.

I guess I'm lacking in art appreciation, but all I could think was, "How much time she she waste doing that?" and "What if she sneezed when she was almost done and knocked a bunch of that stuff off?" and, most insightfully, "I bet that itches."

Jen: I don't know...I don't see anything, but then, what do I know?

Steven: That was a perfect comparison...a trainwreck that you can't help but stare at!

Debbie: I dunno! Beats me!

Ratz: Definitely different!
