Haunting Halloween Cakes

Halloween is just around the corner and I happened to find some pretty incredible cakes for celebrating the occasion.

There's your standard, innocuous haunted house!

Or maybe you fancy a funny Frankenstein to fuel your frolics.

Bats are best when YOU do the biting, wouldn't you say?

Some people cringe at the thought of a clown, no matter how colorful!

A delicious Dracula with a few dangling sweet spiders?

For a big party... at tiered fancy cake with skulls galore.

Then there's a coffin cake with a creepy skeleton in repose.

If your taste tends to the slightly gorey, how about a brain?  (At least I think that's what this is!)

Your guess is as good as mine on this guy!  A tempting sweet fellow is he!

Whoever is missing from the party is probably in this cake!

There's a little something for everyone here...spider webs, snakes, or is that an octopus?

If you feel compelled to keep an eye on your guests, this looks the part!

This one migh be a good choice if little ones are present...not too scary!

I think this is a castle tower...for a Halloween wedding!

Gettinhg  back to creepy...this guy could be frightening in dim light1

Here is the really macabre!  I don't think I could eat any of this one!

Well, there are some ideas for you creative cooks who might be looking for ideas for a unique Halloween creation!  More images and ideas are available .here.    Good luck and good eating!

How cool! I like the skulls. This is so much more interesting than just pumpkins and gourds. I get squeamish about the partial body parts. Grab a knife and call the cops.

WOW, some people really have good imaginations! The cakes look awesome!

I really like some of those but some are just so gross I couldn't even think about eating them....the brain and the last one...YUCK! I used to have a Halloween party for my kids every year. I would make a big bowl of punch. Inside the punch would be a floating frozen hand. It would bob up and down in the punch and the kids loved it. I made it from by taking a rubber glove (the hospital type, without the powder inside) and I would rinse the inside first. I filled it with water, put an elastic around the wrist and froze it. Then I carefully cut off the glove and voila! Inevitably, what would happen is the fingers on the hand would fall off and melt and the finger that held up the best was...yup...you guessed it...that middle one! The kids would laugh and laugh about that!

OK.... That last one?? EEEWWW! I couldn't. No way. Several of the others are really creative and cute, but the arm and that ?brain? are just a bit too gory for me.

I think it is an octopus on that one cake. If you look really close at the bottom layer you can see it's eyes....
