New Word Wednesday #10 And a Winner!

Every time I comment on a website where I have to type a word verification to get my comment posted, I can't help but think, "What a waste! What could possibly be a very helpful word is now going to disappear and never be seen again." With all the attention being paid to "going green" in this country, I think it's time for bloggers to go green and recycle the letter combos used in word verification. (I personally did away with the process to eliminate the waste of words, but some people just aren't as conservation minded!)

I decided several weeks ago to start a meme called "New Word Wednesday", thus creating a dictionary of new words based on the letter combos that pop up in the word verification process. You may feel free to do the same, or to grab my words and use them. (You know, if you use a new word three times, it's in your vocabulary forever; at least that's what I've heard) Just think, we can learn new words and go green just by recycling/reusing the words that show up at comment time.

Here are this week's words:

afluette:  susceptible to the flu, as in, "Ellen was constantly getting sick in the winter months, and her doctor determined that she was extremely afluette."

brizes:  non-monetary items used as bribes, as in, "An investigation disclosed that the Congressman was guilty of accepting a luxury automobile, a vacation in Aruba, and several other brizes from the lobbyist."

disfo:  a slang word for misinformation; as in, "The candidate for office was so uninformed that many of her speeches and interviews were a mess of disfo!"

pryini:  a person who is constantly sticking their nose in other people's business; as in, "Your Aunt Ethel is wanted to know how much we paid for this house.  She is such a pryini!"

sessate:  infused with sesame seeds; as in, "I have eaten so many sesame seed bagels, I'm feeling more than slightly sessate!"

Don't forget that if you use a word in your regular speech three times, it's in your vocabulary forever.

By the way, we have a winner!  The winner of The Magic Warble book giveaway is Date Girl of Date Girl Diaries.  Congatulations!  If you didn't win and wanted the book, it is available on Amazon!

As always, some great ones in there...I loved "pryini," that sounds like it should already be a real word. Of course, if I told anyone that it is, I'd just be spreading disfo...

I love 'pryini' and sessate made me laugh as it made me wonder just how many sesame sead bagels you'd have to consume to actually be sessate!

Eva this is brilliant! And don't think I haven't thought the same thing when trying to copy those squiggly words, just in time for them to give me a NEW word! A waste of TWO words! You are so smart...I loved how you used all of the words in sentences..ha ha. Now...I have a dear friend in our family who wrote a book on this very subject....made up words. It's called "Scents Of Humor" and his name is Paul Phelan. If you google just that you can find his book. He lives in Biddeford and he is in his 80's. A former music teacher/musician and writer. He has written many books. Check him out!

Fun, isn't it?

I like disfo. These days the news programs are full of so much DISFO that I choose not to watch them.

Deborah: I'm glad my daffy definitions made you laugh!

Debbie: Darn! I wish I'd thought of the word "fictionary!" That's how Paul refers to his publication. I was hoping to publish a fictionary eventually of these words.

Outofmymind: I agree about the news being filled with disfo!

Thank you so much! So excited to win. I never win anything :-) can't say that anymore.

Disfo is my favorite, though pryini is close. I have a couple of those in my life. ;-)

Oh, I am also going to steal "disfo." Thanks for the thought. I'll never look at word verifications the same way again.

Good ones! I liked pryini. Everyone has an aunt like that.
(I sure hope I'm not that kind of aunt?) Hmmmm

You are so creative Eva! Love these - I could use pryini and sessate. I ate a whole bunch of sesame seeds today and am surrounded by nosy people.

Visiting From The Date Girl Diaries, I like your idea of New Word Wednesday :) Brizes sounds like a shortened version of bridezilla :)
