Sundays in My Neck of the Woods

The Red Onion is a restaurant located on Main Street in Rangeley, Maine.  It has several dining options.
On a nice day you can eat outside under the awnings or at one of the umbrella-shaded tables.

Or you can eat inside, in one of two levels of dining rooms.  (I didn't want to take photos of the diners without their permission, so I aimed the camera at the mirror to get a photo of the dining room without being obvious!  I didn't expect to show up in the picture!)

We started off with hearty salads, loaded with crisp cucumbers, onions, lettuce, and tomato.  Everything was fresh which made for a tasty beginning.
Hubby chose a chili burger, fries, and coleslaw--pretty good stuff.

Because I had read the Red Onion was know for its pizza, I chose to have the Hawaiian, which came topped with ham and pineapple.  I suspect people in the area are not exactly pizza connisseurs, however.   Although the pizza was adequate, I didn't feel it deserved rave reviews.  If we ever returned, much as I enjoy pizza, I probably would select something different from the menu.  There was plenty from which to pick!

Hi Eva and thanks for coming by Grams Made It. I don't often comment, but I'm a regular reader. You've been in my Google Feed Reader for quite a while.

I would love to be able to dine outdoors more often. But South Texas is too hot and humid in the summer for dining al fresco.

Man, that food looked good. I imagine that I would have thought the pizza to be superb since it's been over 5 months since I've allowed myself any. My mouth is watering. LOL

How about an update on Mr. Eva?

I did try to stay off pizza, but this entry broke my resolve. Off I go, to make my own.
Thank God, I can whip up a fresh pie in no time, or at least for lunch.
Happy Sunday to you.

I like that you ended up in the picture. As someone who really enjoys pizza, I can tell even from the picture that that one was not stellar.

Sheila: I don't think it's part of a chain, but I could be wrong.

Marianne: Thanks It was okay.

Terri: It was a cute place.

Rosaria: I'm sure the pizza you whipped up was much tastier than the one pictured.

You're too sly with that photography, you paparazzi, you.
Imagine the looks I got when I took that picture at those shorts on the Jersey Shore boardwalk.

That is a weird looking pizza, too much uncovered dough, but the salad looks great. I love canadian bacon and pineapple pizza!

Yum! The burger and fries are making my mouth water. You just can't get a good ol' American burger in Germany :(. --Sadee@aPicturebookLife

I always wondered how I would take a picture in a restaurant without intruding on diners - now I know! I'll just have to find a place with a big mirror!

Fun stuff.

Cute name for a restaurant! I hate when I'm looking forward to something, and then it doesn't live up to it's name! I love pizza and am very fussy....I love a good cheese pizza! (Coming from Chicago, I feel I have the experience to judge!)

Clipped: I like ham and pineapple pizza, too! This one was just okay.

Sadee: American burgers are hard to beat!

Jen: It was different!
