Random Observations on the Road

We don't allow billboard signs in Maine, so I'm always fascinated by the ones I see in other states:

McDONALD'S WESTERN STORE
LOCATED BEHIND BURGER KING.

LION'S DEN ADULT SUPERSTORE

followed by

CHURCH; ANY CHURCH.  JUST GO!

****************

SPA !

TRUCK PARKING AVAILABLE.

(I have a sneaky suspicion there maybe some happy endings for truckers at that spa!)

*************************

WE SUCK!  DELTA PLUMBING

(that one may have caused me to throw up in my mouth a little.)

I had no idea of all the entertainment we were missing in Maine, thanks to the anti-billboard law!

An entire billboard free state!
That's impressive.
Scenic vistas unspoilt by giant advertisements.

I don't mind billboards here or there, but it's when we are BOMBARDED with them and they create EYE NOISE that it REALLY bothers me! Some billboards can be quite creative and I get a kick out of them! I always have my camera at the ready just for that reason!

Good for Maine for not having billboards, but some are entertaining.

Wow, I didn't realize there WERE any any no-billboard states. How refreshing! Although, I have to admit, there certainly is no end to entertainment along the rods I travel. One of my favorites down this way (probably gone now) is a church sign that says "JESUS SAVES" and positioned right under those words, from a certain vantage point is the sign for a used furniture company - "5 piece dinette set - $200."

I love any billboard that makes use of a good pun!

We don't have as many in Iowa as we used to. The billboards are still there, but they are empty. But, there is still plenty ugly out there.

Hehe. Billboards are part of the 'road trip' experience for sure! Loved the ones you found!

And THAT'S why it's called "Vacationland!"
But, it wouldn't kill 'em to throw in a few "happy endings," ayuh.
