WTF Wednesday!

The things that have made me say What the F#ck during the past couple of weeks:

Sixteen year-old Gabby Douglas wins two Gold Medals for the US and a bunch of "Twits" on Twitter are complaining because she didn't "get her hair done!"  Really?  That's all you can say?  How about, "Amazing! Congratulations! or, You go girl!"

A Vermont farmer, angry at being pulled over a recent pot arrest, took out his revenge on the local sheriff's department by driving his tractor over 7 of their vehicles, leaving them with no wheels available for pursuit!

The jaws of life had to be used to extract rifles, etc. from the car trunks.  Damage is estimated to be in the vicinity of $250,000 to $300,000.  The perpetrator was later apprehended and was being held on $15,000 bail.  His revenge may not be so sweet when he finds out all the charges against him.   I think anger management classes may be appropriate here!

Internal documents of the Boy Scouts of America show evidence of more than 125 cases where men suspected of sexually abusing boys continued their molestations, despite a despite a blacklist meant to protect boys from abuse.  In several instances, the pedophiles were able to move from one troup to another, escaping detection because of lax background investigative procedures.

This is the organization which bans gay men from being scout leaders.  Apparently pedophilia is okay, but loving adult male relationships are not. attitude that has been prevalent until recently in many churches.

I know!!!! I don't get it! How can you not look past the hair and just adore Gabby's passion and talent for gymnastics???

Anger management for sure!!

I don't get it. I just don't get it.
It's precisely because of people like those pedophile vermin that, when I told Mrs. Penwasser I was going to coach a girls softball team (which didn't include our daughter), she said, "That's just creepy."
It makes me sad that she thought that. And not a little bit angry.

The boyscout thing outrages me! So many screwed up stereotypes and still we learn nothing :(. Religious, conservative, coaches, boyscout leaders and still, we don't lump them all into child molestors. Ugh. Why are we not keeping all children away from these groups? So often we fear what we don't understand and misappropriate labels. Obviously the strategy to only expose children to safe men of the church and sports and boyscouts isn't working...Perhaps we have who safe men are confused with the wrong identifiers.

I didn't even notice Gabby's hair, I was too busy admiring her perfect gymnastic form. (and reminding myself I shouldn't eat so much cake).
The church and the scouts have a lot to answer for in my opinion.

Brian Miller said... it was pretty funny to see him tractoring over the cars...just saying....yeah dont get me started on that last one....ugh

creepy nasty bastards! i think it's interesting that typically, when there's sexual child abuse happening, it's not done by the gay men, but the straight men. and yet the gay men are the ones shunned from positions of working with kids.

Its an upside down world we live in. Really, you think anger management will help? Good luck with that.

Seriously, WTF?!?! People hide behind their twitter handles to say the most ridiculous things. Umm...I'm thinking Gabby was a little busy, and also looked AWESOME. Great post! So glad you found me, so I could find you!

Hadn't heard that about Gabby, but sheesh, some people are amazingly petty. And I laughed my a** off when I heard about the guy tractoring over all the police cars while the police were inside with the A/C on and couldn't hear what has happening. Oh, I mean shame on that guy. (I do mean it, of course, but it still seems funny.)

OMG I haven't heard any of this! The boy scout issue makes me sick!

The farmer dude with his pot arrest made me laugh despite the mayhem. Or rather that photo of the mangled police cars did. See this is what happens when you take away a man's drugs. You don't hear of guys who smoke weed doing violent, out of control things do you? Take his pot AWAY, get this guy. I think we could all learn something from this.

I could not agree more on the boy scout thing.

These are all exceptional examples of WTF, my friend. It really pissed me off that the media immediately went looking for trash on Gabby's family.
