No WTF Wednesday

I know you are probably here looking for my usual "What the F*ck Wednesday" post, but I'm just not feeling it this week.  I was unable to come up with any true head-scratchers this week; I did read several articles that made me want to vomit, but decided not to share that feeling!  Who needs it?

Instead, I'm feeling the need to write about my absolutely favorite television series, "Big Bang Theory."
I have been watching this show since it first aired and am constantly amazed at the outstanding writing and excellent acting showcased here.

This synopsis of the show is featured on their website, The Big Bang Theory.

Leonard and Sheldon are brilliant physicists, the kind of "beautiful minds" that understand how the universe works. But none of that genius helps them interact with people, especially women. All this begins to change when a free-spirited beauty named Penny moves in next door. Sheldon, Leonard's roommate, is quite content spending his nights playing Klingon Boggle with their socially dysfunctional friends, fellow CalTech scientists Wolowitz and Koothrappali. However, Leonard sees in Penny a whole new universe of possibilities... including love.

Every one of the characters is memorable!  Sheldon, played by Jim Parsons, is the ultimate nerd!  He's brilliant in his field at CalTech, but totally lost in the rest of life.   He has no clue about how the average person functions.  His roommate Leonard, played by Johnny Galecki (whom you may remember as Becky's boyfriend on the old sitcom Roseann) is just slightly ahead of Sheldon.  At least he's aware that there are things he doesn't understand about life!

Then there's Raj, played by Kunal Nayyar; he's a brilliant physicist who's tongue-tied in the presence of women unless he fortifies himself with some "liquid courage."  The fourth in this quartet of misfits is Howard, played by Simon Helberg.  He has delusions of being a ladies man, but always seems to fall short of being the Lothario he imagines himself to be.  Poor Howard has only a masters' degree in engineering, while the other three have doctoral degrees, of which he is often reminded!  There are 4 female regulars also; Penny, who lives across the hall fromSheldon and Leonard, Bernadette, who sees potential in Howard; Amy, who's a perfect match for Sheldon in nerdiness, and Leslie, a fellow CalTech staffer who loves to dump on Sheldon.

I've never watched an episode where I didn't nearly wet my pants laughing!  Mr. Eva annd I even watch the repeats--we're that addicted.

If you haven't yet seen this show, tune in a few times....it grows on you and soon you;ll be hooked, too!  Is anyone out there already a fan???

EVA

I'll be back next week with WEF Friday!

This show is only shown very late at night over here, so I hadn't watched it until I went to Florida to visit Alex. They are HUGE fans of the show and had some episodes saved on their Tivo. REALLY funny!!!!

YES! Of course have not seen any television at all since being in India, but this was one of the few must see shows on my very choosy list. Definitely a cut above the average.

I like that you took a break from WTF... change is as good as a rest, they say. (oooh those mysterious they..)

I enjoy it now and then. My husband worked at Cal Tech, so, you can imagine his disdain when I choose to watch this show!

BBT is a well written show. So much of the humor comes from character-based situations, and the language is pretty sophisticated, compared with some of the awful sitcoms. But the bottom line is simply that it's FUNNY!

These guys may be brilliant but they don't know how to eat. Notice how they play with their food but never eat anything. It doesn't matter because Penny is hot. Have I mentioned that the actor who plays Raj once spent an afternoon at our house?

I've watched a few episodes and it's pretty funny. I think they play into nerd stereotypes a little bit too much, but it still is funny and genuinely better than most sitcoms on TV.

I watch the repeat episodes too, even though I have all the episodes so far on DVDs and watch those too. I've noticed in the latest new episodes airing now that Raj is talking while there are women in the room, but doesn't appear to be drinking any alcohol.

Jim has watched this show from the beginning; I only recently became a fan. Luckily I was able to get the first three seasons on DVD from the library, and am currently waiting for Season 4. I am watching the reruns on TV and the latest shows, also. I just can't get enough of this show. LOVE IT!!
